Opportunities

Every year, hundreds of people volunteer their time and efforts in support of Skills Canada – Nova Scotia. We hold skilled trade and technology career events in communities across the province.  From judging competitions to acting as youth mentors to hosting hands-on workshops in trades or technologies, we could not possibly host our programming without volunteer support.

Competition Volunteers
If you are interested in helping plan one of the individual competition areas, judging, or helping on the day of the competition with school tours and general tasks, please let us know!  Volunteers are needed for our three main competition sites: Dartmouth, Sydney Mines, and Stellarton.

Coaches
Team Nova Scotia competitors are keen and looking for coaches to assist them as they prepare for provincial and national-level competitions.  Share your expertise.  The experience is truly rewarding!

Project Mentors
Throughout the year, Skills Canada – Nova Scotia hosts events that educate high school students on skilled trade and technology career options that they may not have otherwise considered called Youth Projects. These events include the Young Women’s Conference, Skills Energy Youth Quest, TechShop, and the African Nova Scotia Youth Conference. If your a skilled trades person or technologist, come and share your experiences and encouragement with students.
