Mindful Mango

The Mindful Mango café is a social enterprise, a joint partnership of Capital Health, Connections Halifax, and Partners for Care. The café offers employment to highly skilled baristas, servers and cooks who are living with, or recovering from, mental illness.

The café employs 12 full-time and part-time staff who have been trained by professionals working in the industry. “The staff was like a big family right from the start. We trained together and we are all working to make this a success,” said Martin, on-site manager, of his team. Based on the response from their customers, they are definitely reaching their goal. “We’ve had very few complaints and almost every customer is a regular.”

The café prides itself on offering quality products that are locally sourced, and have a focus on “clean foods,” i.e. food that are wholesome, minimally processed, lower sugar and fat content, and free of additives and chemicals.  Staff at the Mindful Mango know many of their suppliers personally. They enjoy being able to tell customers that they use fresh ingredients supplied by local producers.

The menu at the Mindful Mango is ever evolving, with original recipes developed in their own kitchen. The food is prepared fresh in front of you, and the friendly service really can’t be beat. Located at the Bayers Road Centre, if you’re in Halifax you should definitely take the time to stop in and visit this wonderful spot!
