Skills Canada National Competition
The Skills Canada National Competition (SCNC) is the only national, Olympic-style, multi-trade and technology competition for young students and apprentices in the country. Every year, the event brings together approximately 500 young gold medalists from all regions of Canada – along with their team of piers, and delegates – to compete in over 50 skilled trade and technology areas.
The competition provides an opportunity for young Canadians studying a skilled trade or technology to be tested against exacting standards and against their peers from across the nation. Students vie to win the honour of being crowned the best in their chosen discipline.
Team Nova Scotia took home 11 medals in 2011, including a gold in Hairstyling. In October of 2011, competitors from Canada travelled to London, England to take part in the WorldSkills Competition. We are pleased to announce that Aaron Hebb, Car Painting apprentice from Bridgewater won a bronze medal at this international event! This is the first time a Nova Scotian has ever won a medal at WorldSkills.
The 2012 Skills Canada National Competition will take place in Edmonton, Alberta, on May 13-16. Register for the provincial competition, and compete for your spot on Team Nova Scotia!
